  1. Resume and Cover Letter (individually authored) 5%

  2. Statement of Project (one page, individually authored) 5%
    Format: One page; State Problem, Motivation, Audience and Approach
  3. Proposal (10 pages max.; group authored) 15%
    Format: Formal Written Proposal, as Discussed in Mayfield, section 2.6
    Front Matter: Letter of Transmittal, Title page, Abstract, Table of Contents, List of Figures and Tables
    Body: Introduction (motivation, key issues, objectives and audiences)
    Technical Approach (theory, models, hypotheses; method and design; how data will be gathered and analyzed) Management of Project
    Work Plan and Timetable
    End Matter: Bibliography, Resumes, Appendix
  4. Progress Report (3 pages; individually authored) 5%

  5. Literature Review (3-5 pages; individually authored) 10%

    Specific format will Follow the Type of Report You are Writing (laboratory, research, design or feasibility study). In general, the structure will follow this format:

Required Oral Reports: (40% of Final Grade)

  1. Statement of Project (3 minutes, group) 5%
    Format: Informal Presentation of Motivation, Focus, Audiences, Approaches to Problem
  2. Proposal (20 minutes per group: 15 minute presentation, plus 5 minute Q&A) 15%
    Format: Formal Microsoft® PowerPoint® Presentation that Closely follows the format for the Written Proposal
  3. Progress Report (10 minutes per group) 5%
    Format: Group Presentation of Progress Update. Follow the format of the Written Progress Report
  4. Final Oral Report (20 minutes per group: 15 minute presentation, plus 5 minute Q&A) 15%
    Format: Formal Oral Presentation of Final Report. Follow the format for the Final Written Report
